The vision of Immortal pets began with "Annie," a painting I did for Dianne Barnes in memory of her soul mate, Annie, a golden retriever who had died the previous summer. In order to capture the essence of the dog and her life I researched her background and talked extensively to her owner about everything from personality traits to the music played in the home. Music is a vital part of my creative process and while Annie was being painted, John Denver music was the vibrant source initiated to express my brushwork.

My canine paintings are very lush with as many as 100 layers of thin transparent watercolor washes upon which a layering of gouache

takes place. I have not found any technique quite as effective at capturing the emotion, detail, and depth of the subjects. "Annie," the painting, received first place professional recognition in the regional Canine Art Exhibit in Spokane, WA in 1999.

Polly is a Burmese Mtn Dog. The portrait of Polly recreates a special environment seen on a hike in Yellowstone Park. Polly had decided to rest, tucking her foot under her as she normally does. I added native flowers and grasses to complete the work.

For a commissioned work I require good photo documentation, a deposit, and patience. I am very particular about the final work and guarantee my work 100% or all moneys are refunded with the return of the painting.

Commissioned Immortal pets

Commissioned Immortal pets either canine or feline requires a selection of good photo documentation provided by the owner and a deposit. The following prices are a general rule of thumb regarding commissions; however, owners who choose to change their mind about what they want to be included may be charged more and others may be charged less.

If you are interested in commissioned work, please contact me by email. Those who wish to meet a deadline of a birthday or holiday must give me TIME. I do give certificates to those who have not allowed for the creative process in their planning. I am particular about my works and none leaves my studio without my personal satisfaction, therefore, patience please. I share the growth of the creation with those who have email via jpeg images.
